Burn Permit

Requirements

  • Burning Permit allows burning only between 6:00AM to 7:00PM.

  • Piles can be no larger than 10’x10’. If you have multiple piles, they must be 25’ apart.

  • No burning if wind speed exceeds 15mph.

  • No burning within 25’ of any structure on the permitted property and conditions that would cause the spread of fire must be eliminated prior to ignition.

  • No burning within 50’ of an adjacent residence.

  • Prevailing winds must be away from occupied buildings and public roadways.

  • The fire must be extinguished if it becomes a nuisance to others or if not under supervision.

  • Use a clean burning device to start the fire.

  • Fires shall be kept under control and constantly attended until the fire is extinguished.

  • Fire cannot be allowed to smolder unattended. Buckets, shovels or garden hoses shall be readily available for use.

  • Only natural wood maybe be burned. No burning of prohibited materials allowed.Treated or painted wood, plastic, rubber, garbage, leaves and grass are not allowed.

  • Must abide by all MN statutes and local ordinances pertaining to open burning. The city reserves the right to suspend all recreational fires. Must extinguish fire immediately if the permit gets revoked.

  • A burning permit is not required when there is continuous snow coverage of 3 inches or more.

  • Permitted party assumes responsibility for all damages and costs that may result from burning done under the permit.

  • Anything beyond the definitions of a recreational fire requires a burn permit.

Recreational Fires

  • A burning permit is not required for a recreational fire.

  • Recreational fires are allowed to maximum of 3 feet in diameter at the base.

  • Flames should be no higher than 3 feet.

  • Fires shall be kept under control and constantly attended until the fire is extinguished.

  • Fire cannot be allowed to smolder unattended. Buckets, shovels or garden hoses shall be readily available for use.

  • Burning permits must be applied for 2 business days prior to burning.

  • $15.00 fee for burning permits.

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age.

  • Create an account and log into the Rogers Permit Portal. Choose “Burn Permit” as the application type and fill in the form to apply.
